Discovery Kit
With the Discovery Kit, students build inspiring technical constructions (Discovery Builds). The assignments deal with important Science and Technology subjects in which all main technical themes are adressed. Build a real electric motor, wind turbine or vehicle. Discover the associated physical principles in a playful way.
- Suitable for classroom use from age 8 and accessible to every type of student
- This Kit contains 14 stackable storage boxes, each box contains 1 Discovery Build
- The students each receive their own workbook with assignments
- You get: 14 Discovery Build technical tasks, 40 to 60 minutes per task
- Two students work on one Discovery Build; 28 children can be occupied at the same time

You are going to build a real electric motor!
How often have you used appliances with an electric motor: your toothbrush, a drill, a food processor, a fan… You press a button and… almost magically something starts to turn.
We get energy from food and drinks and then use our muscles to make something move. An electric motor receives energy in the form of electricity, but what are the muscles of the electric motor? That’s what you’re going to discover in this lesson!
Have you ever heard of an Abs Roller?
This is a device to train your abs. (‘Abs’ is a common English abbreviation for abdominal muscles.)
To keep your body healthy, it is important that we exercise a lot. It’s is not only great for your body, it also boosts your mood. Happy body, happy mind 🙂
This Discovery Build is a boost for your technical skills and an introduction to abdominal muscle training.
The Beetle is a mini go-kart.
So mini that there are no pedals on it, so you have to push each other. A car or go-kart has 4 wheels. As a result, you do not have to keep your balance when you drive, like when you’re on a bicycle or motorcycle.
To drive a car you need to get a driver’s license. You learn all the traffic rules and you learn how to steer safely, accelerate and brake. Being in control of your vehicle is very important for your own safety and of those around you.
In this lesson we will practice with steering, how precise can you do that?
Have you ever been on an airplane?
Was it a small sports plane or one of those big jets? You can board a plane in Amsterdam and 8 hours later you are in New York. While a boat takes two or three weeks.
Airplanes have really changed the world. Time to build one yourself!
There’s a new game that tests your aiming and precision skills.
Is it a car? No!
Is it boules? No!
It’s… JEU DE CAR 🙂
Today your first training for the world championship starts.
Ready? GO!
You are going to make a jumping rope!
You may think that jumping ropes are mostly used in schoolyards. But that’s not true…
Jumping rope is a very good training that is done by many athletes. Think of boxers, for example. Let’s get started and make one!
One of the greatest achievements by humans is probably the journey to the moon.
When people really want something and work cooperate together, it’s amazing what can be achieved. You could never accomplish something like this on your own.
You would have to be a physicist, design and build rocket engines, train yourself as an astronaut, and master a thousand other professions. And… and you have to dare to do it!
Would you dare to go to the moon?
There is still so much to discover in space. You may know that on July 20, 1969, astronauts disembarked from their lunar lander onto the moon for the first time in history.
Now they are working hard to get people back to the moon. And eyes are also on Mars, our neighboring planet.
Maybe you also want to go into space? But you have to start small, building this rocket for example!
Ready to get really dizzy? Don’t be alarmed, it’s not about you!
You will discover how it is possible that a top can remain so stable on it’s point. Because that’s what makes a spinning top so much fun. Place a spinning top on a table when it’s not spinning and it will immediately topple over. But if you give the top some spinning speed, it will stand neatly upright.
Let’s explore how that is possible.
Suppose you don’t have a phone or a watch; how would you know what time it is? Time is extremely important to us, you can see a clock in almost every room.
For most of human history you could only make appointments like; I’ll see you at dawn or in the afternoon. The very first clock invented was the sundial.
Let’s find out how it works!
If you are going to build something, you usually use sturdy materials that can hardly be deformed; steel for example. But you can also make constructions of materials that are not strong at all, unless you pull them.
Just think of a rope suspension bridge or bridges that are literally held in the air by steel cables. Can you use that one strength to build something you haven’t seen before? Let’s try that out!
Windmills are a super invention.
You use power that is everywhere, for free: wind. Mills were used in China 1800 years ago. And today they are more popular than ever!
All over the world you see more and more windmills appearing that generate electricity.
The power of the wind is converted into electricity, which you can use to charge an electric car.
Let’s see if you can build a windmill yourself!
Test your building skills by building the Dino! You practice how to build an Infento construction, and you discover if your Dino is nicely balanced.
The dinosaur you are going to make is a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The real one lived about 70 million years ago, until the impact of a large meteorite ended the existence of all dinosaurs.
Will you bring him back to life?
Balance is almost something magical.
You don’t realize this often because it’s so common, but almost everything is in balance. If not, things will go wrong quickly. If you weren’t balanced, you’d fall over while standing! 😉
You are going to build a balancing bird and learn all about balance.
